It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Soloduik in Regina, Saskatchewan on December 17, 2024 at the age of 78. She was a loving mother of daughters Kim (Duncan), Michelle, and Lorraine; grandma to Zachary, Jay, Joseph, Xander, and Renee; and sister to Maureen and Pam.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim Soloduik; her parents Percy and Emily; her brother Raymond and son-in-law Stuart. Jean was born in Kent, England. Her friends from childhood were close even in her senior years, and she always spoke fondly about them and her home in Detling.
She met her husband when she came to Canada as a Bell switch board operator and loved him so much, she became a Canadian citizen and raised a family with him. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and always put them first before her own needs.
Jean and Jim finally settled in Saskatchewan in their retirement years and enjoyed 5 years living in the county before Jim passed. It was then that Jean settled in Regina with her daughter Michelle.
Jean loved her family and friends intently and always had a place in her heart for all of them. She adored animals and always had a dog or two by her side. Her passion was gardening and nothing was more joyful than the time she spent in a garden listening to birds.
Although mobility in her later life affected her favourite activities, she always found a way to connect with people and friends. She was engaged with the on-line gaming community. She made many close friends and was recognized as Gaming Grandma or Bullock.
In her final months, Jean fought hard for her health but made the decision to leave this life on her terms. Her words to all of you are “Tell them, they have my love.”
Thank you to all family and friends who have offered their support and love through this difficult period. Mom appreciated your concerns and wonderful aid to the family.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
To Jean, our gentle ranger, our heart, you will never be far from our memory. We love you.
