Christina was raised on a farm south of Kendal. She was involved in daily chores and attended elementary school, which consisted of a one room school near their farm. After grade 8 she moved to Vibank to attend high school. She attained her grade 11 but then had to make way for the next sibling to go to high school. She moved to Regina where she worked at the (then) Grey Nuns hospital. It was while working there that she was introduced to George. On August 13, 1951, they married. Their first few years were spent on the Merk’s farm south of Vibank. They moved into town when George started working for the Department of Highways. In July of 1970, they moved to Regina. As the kids grew up and moved out, Christina began working outside the home. She was an excellent seamstress and as such, worked for Regina Draperies, for the RCMP altering uniforms and finished her career at the Regina General Hospital. Upon retiring, Christina spent many hours volunteering all the while, cooking and serving up scrumptious meals, and of course attending church whenever she could. She truly was a child of God.
The family wants to thank the staff at the Pasqua Hospital and Wascana Grace Hospice for the compassionate care provided during Christina’s stay. At her request there will be a private service.
