David Louis Gleason

David Louis Gleason was born on July 27, 1953, in Lynwood, California. He was the first of five children born to June & Buster Gleason. He was 70 when he died. Dave attended grammar school at St Catherine Laboure School in Torrance, CA and then high school at Junipero Sierra High School in Gardena where he graduated in 1971. From there, Dave went on to Loyola University, which became Loyola Marymount University while he was there. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Math in 1975. After Loyola, he went to UCLA. He dropped out of UCLA when he got a full time job at Garret AiResearch where his father was working. He worked at the same company through many name changes. Garret AiResearch became, AlliedSignal which became Honeywell where he finally retired in 2015. He worked in the machine shop at Garret AiReseach and AlliedSignal and then move to the IT (information technology) field in the 1990s.

Dave lived in his childhood home in Hawthorne, California until he bought a condo in Lawndale in 1988. As long as his parents lived in the house, Dave was a frequent visitor and spent time with his family.

Dave was a parishioner or St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church his entire life. He was a deeply devoted Catholic and was very active at Church. He was in the Holy Name Society, young people club, taught RCIA (Rite of Catholic Initiation) and was a lector.

Dave was a devoted son, brother and uncle. He traveled to graduations, confirmations and baptisms of his nieces and nephews and drove his parents cross country for these events.

Dave enjoyed computers getting in on the ground floor with personal computers in the late 70s, music (buying records) and sports (watching on TV). He was detailed oriented and had a spreadsheet for everything.

Although Dave was an introvert, he was good at talking and listening to people who needed someone to listen to them. He was good at counseling.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents. Dave is survived by sister, Ann Grover of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Daniel Gleason of Westminster, CA; brother, Larry Gleason of Albemarle, NC; sister, Trudy Gleason of Manhattan Beach, CA; 6 nephews and 5 nieces; and numerous cousins.

David Louis Gleason passed away at Brookdale in Torrance, CA on June 13th, 2024 at age 70 after suffering several years with cancer. Funeral Mass will be at St. Catherine Laboure in Torrance, CA on July 22nd at 10 AM.
