Cynthia Vandermarliere

Cindy grew up in a vibrant 1960’s neighborhood with her parents, Raymond and Patricia Brown and five siblings. As a young girl, she had a natural interest in sewing and was known for her incredibly kind and gentle nature. She graduated from Bishop Foley High School and worked as a legal secretary.

She met her husband and best friend, Robert (Bob) Vandermarliere, at a neighborhood park, where she routinely sang and played the acoustic guitar. It’s no wonder Bob was drawn to her natural talent and joyful spirt. They quickly fell in love and were married April 19, 1986. Cindy and Bob shared 38 years of marriage. Their love and perseverance through all things remain an inspiration.

Cindy was a loving mother to her daughters Kelly Boyd and Caitlyn Leason. She went above and beyond to make their childhood memories special, in a way that words cannot express. She was by their side for every life milestone and obstacle, building confidence and resilience with her unwavering love and support. Cindy prioritized her love for the Lord and her family above all things.

She was a member of Lord of the Harvest Christian Fellowship and enjoyed her years singing in the worship band with Bob by her side, who also played the guitar. She had a passion for church outreach, helping countless families and individuals find housing, food and connection to community resources. She was an accomplished seamstress, making multiple gowns for friends and family. She will be remembered for not only her kind heart but her desire to make everyone feel special and worthy of love.

She is survived by her husband (Robert), daughters (Kelly & Eric Boyd; Caitlyn & Max Leason), grandsons (Shaun Boyd and Darwin Leason) and five siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bridge of Hope, a charitable organization focused on ending homelessness in single parent families.
