Teresa A. McMahon of Redford, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. She was 89 years old. She was born on March 26, 1932 to Edmund McMahon and Margaret Quinn. She grew up in Detroit, MI with her late brother Patrick, sister Mary (Cooper), and brother Daniel. Loving aunt of Ron Cooper, Colleen Lindgren (Mark), Jackie Ebbing (Chris), Kathleen Winter, and Kayle McMahon. She is also survived by what she considered her grandchildren Collin, Ian, Matthew and Meagan.
She was a long-standing member of St Valentines parish, but enjoyed visiting other churches. I don’t think there is a church in this area that she hasn’t attended. Teresa was never married, but considered her nephew and nieces as one of her own. Later she enjoyed spoiling their children Collin, Ian, Matthew, and Meagan. We can’t forget about Danny. Although Danny was Ian’s dog, Teresa always referred to him as her dog too. She had so many friends, past and present, that were very important in her life. She would spend hours on the phone with them, just to keep in touch. For anyone that called back, I’m sure you found that her answering machine was always full. She loved to go on vacation and dine out at nice restaurants. I think she enjoyed planning them as much as going on them. She once took a side job at a travel agency because she knew she could do a better job of getting the cheapest rates. She was always looking and found great deals, whether that was a vacation, buying clothes, or just at the grocery store. Teresa worked for 32 years at Ford Motor Company. She started as secretary and worked her way up. She retired from Ford as a benefit administrator. She took great pride in helping others there. Teresa had a great memory and we will truly miss her and the stories that she would tell, or retell us, along with some traditions that she has started, especially the Left-Right Christmas Gift Exchange Game.
Teresa spent many hours volunteering her time, whether it be time spent driving people to doctors appointments or financially. She will be missed by all. We loved her so much!
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10am (in state 9:30) at St. Valentine Catholic Church, 25881 Dow St, Redford, MI 48239.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph, or Missionaries of Charity – Detroit, or to St. Valentine Church, Redford.
