Sam Rodgers
Sam Rodgers was born October 9, 1957 in Louise Mississippi to the late Rosie Lee Rodgers and Joe Rodgers Sr.
The family moved to Weed California in 1965. Sam attended Weed Elementary School and Weed High School.
Sam was baptized at an early age by the late Reverend Willie Lee Thomas. He worked for International Paper Company in Weed for five years. He then moved to Redding California where he worked for Pepsi Cola Company. He also owned his own detail business, Sammy’s Auto Detail Shop.
Sam later met his ex-wife Dawn Rodgers-Revis. They had one son together, Sammy Ray Rodgers. Sam helped raise five stepchildren Jermaine Barkley, Anthony Stevenson, Tamara Stevenson, Joshua Stevenson, & Aaron Stevenson. Sam lived in Redding, California for 35 plus years.
Sam was a very loving and caring man who kept to himself.
He loved to laugh and tell jokes. His laughter was contagious, and he brought a smile to all who met him.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Joe and Rosie Rodgers, brothers Odee and Cdee Guider, Joe and Melvin Rodgers,
sisters Ossie Jones, Ada and Mary Rodgers.
He is survived by one son Sammy Ray Rodgers, Sisters Anna & Steve Hubbard of Redding, CA, Neola & Horce Thompson of Sacramento, CA, Bettie & Charles Harris of Sacramento, CA, Brother David Rodgers of Weed, CA, one living Aunt Ida Broomfield of Sacramento, CA and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends to cherish his memory..
Sam Rodgers, age 65, of Redding, California passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023.
A visitation for Sam will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Lawncrest Chapel & Memorial Park, 1522 East Cypress Ave, Redding, California. A home going celebration will occur Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 1522 East Cypress Ave, Redding, California. A graveside internment will occur Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Shasta Cemetery, 830 Lassen Ln., Mount Shasta, CA.
