Katherine Louise Herrington was born on April 8, 1924 in Dunsmuir to Alfred Rex and Marguerite Cross. She passed away peacefully on September 12, 2012 surrounded by her family after a brief illness. After living for a short time in Kennett, the family moved to Redding where she graduated with CSF honors from Shasta Union High in 1942. She held various clerical positions in Redding and was part owner of the Olinda General Store with her parents. For many years Louise worked in the Water Department of the City of Anderson and was named Employee of The Year. She greatly enjoyed interacting professionally with the public and will be remembered by many for her cheerful nature and willingness to help others.
She served as President of the Anderson Women's Improvement Club and was an active member of the Shasta County Historical Society. She will be remembered by so many for her quick and natural wit, easy and contagious laugh, radiant smile, loving nature and generosity of spirit. She was a second mother to many of her own children's friends and her home was always a gathering place filled with laughter and fun.
She is survived and sorely missed by her loving husband of 41 years, John Herrington, son Dave (Lori) Harman, daughter Mary (Mark) Warnock, grandson Tim (Tamara) Pellow, Kris (Jenifer) Warnock, great-grand children Rex, Elizabeth, Lillian and William and niece Susan (Neal) Pearce. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Campbell.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 19 from 10 AM to noon and a Memorial Service at 4 PM at McDonald's Chapel, 1275 Continental Street, Redding. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
