REDDING - Klara Nadeker went home to be
with her Lord on June 16, 2024 with family by her
side. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany May 1,
1931. She met her husband, partner and love of her
life, Joseph, in the same town following the end of
World War II. She lead a challenging, wonderful
life filled with both joy and tribulation that took
her on a long and adventurous journey. She came
to the United States following World War II with
her husband, Joseph, in 1950. After the birth of
their first son and a short stay in Oregon with a
family who sponsored them, they left Oregon for
the Forests of Northern California. They lived
simply and happily in the logging camps and
hills close to the coast for several years. Later they
would move to Mckinleyville and Arcata before
they decided to come to Redding in 1961. It was
here they would make their final home and raise
a family of 5 children. Within a short time after
settling in Redding, they were lead to Grace Baptist
Church where they and the family worshipped
until health issues kept them from attending. And
while Klara experienced some trials and tragedy
with the loss of the eldest child at a young age,
her faith never faltered and she was ever thankful
for God’s love and care.
She was known among all her friends for the
handmade cards she handed out to friends and
relatives. She and her youngest daughter, Annie,
designed, cut, pasted and stamped intricate and
beautiful cards for every holiday and special occasion. Everyone was always excited to receive a
handmade card from her.
She was also known for her love of dogs and
the small wirehaired dachshunds she owned. They
were her favorite companions and provided much
comfort and joy to her.
She was one of the most forgiving and gentle
persons God could have put on this earth. She
will be missed.
Klara was preceded in death by Joseph J., her
husband and Joseph P., her son. She is survived by
her daughters Marie, Linda, and Annie; her son
Michael; Her son-in-laws Tom, Ron and David;
Her daughter -in-law, Cindy; three grandchildren Leslie, Danielle and Matthew and one great
grandchild Klara, her namesake.
