Woody was born in Provo, Utah on March 28, 1925, and passed away on May 4, 2011.
Woody spent his early years in Susanville and the Corning area. Then he joined the Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After his Naval service he joined the Merchant Marine's serving in the pacific. After the war he moved to Eureka, where he met his wife of 62 years, Madge. They were married in 1949. While in Eureka he drove for Yellow Cab, an Ambulance Company, and Managed Home and Store Delivery for the San Francisco Chronicle. Woody loved coaching little league and babe ruth baseball, pop warner football, and was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants. Woody and Madge moved to Redding in 1980, where they took over the San Francisco Chronicle Home Delivery, and the Mail Box (inside the Downtown Mall).
After retirement he ended his years loving and watching over his wife, children and grand children.
He is survived by his wife Georgia (Madge); son, Rusty and his wife Rachel of Cheyenne, WY; son, Steve of Redding, CA; daughter, Debbie and her husband Don of Redding, CA; son's Curt and Mike of Redding, CA; 12 grand children, 6 great grand children, one brother, two sister's, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and many great friends.
