Chan Ta Saechao was born to Yong Chiang Saechao and Moung Fuqv Saechao on September 19, 1935 in Namtha, Laos. Chan Ta started farming with his parents at the age of 8. When he was about 19 or 20, he married Kae Cho Saechao and started a family. They were blessed with 11 children which included 6 sons and 5 daughters. Among those children, 2 unfortunately passed in Laos. He has five brothers and four sisters.
Chan Ta later served as a soldier in the military and fought in the Vietnam War for 4 years. In 1975, Chan Ta brought his whole family to Thailand and resided in a refugee camp for 5 years. In 1980, he and his family came to the United States and lived in Portland, Oregon for 5 years. In August 1985, he decided to move his family again and chose California where his heart belonged. Most of his lifetime, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work, and spending time with his loved ones.
Chan Ta was a dedicated and selfless man. He is survived by his 9 children, 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren who will continue to carry on his legacy.
Chan Ta Saechao will always be remembered and greatly missed by many.
