Ada Elizabeth Winkle

Born in Lookout, California, on June 28, 1923, to Ralph and Hazel Carmichael, Ada was one of eight children: Gladys, Elmer, Marion, Donald, Sammy, Bonnie, and Robert. She married Richard “Bud” Winkle in 1941, and together they shared a life built on faith, love, and family.

Ada lived in Anderson, California, for 78 years. She served her community with dedication as an employee of Anderson Elementary and the local high school. A member of Crossroads Church of Anderson since 1952, she gave faithfully—singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and serving as Missions Committee Secretary. She was a loving encourager to missionaries across the globe, writing personal letters of support and staying passionate about mission work throughout her life.

Ada also volunteered at ACCA Food Distribution and the Redding Rescue Mission, and supported KVIP Christian Radio for many years. After retirement, she traveled across the country and enjoyed countless games of Canasta with her family during their cherished get-togethers.

One of the greatest joys of her later years was the Tuesday music program at the Tracy Senior Center. She rarely missed a week and found deep connection and delight among the friends and musicians there.

Ada is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Rose Thompson of Tracy, California, and her son, Gordon Winkle of Little Rock, California. She leaves behind five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ada will be remembered for her unwavering faith, warm heart, joyful spirit, and the countless lives she touched. She was a light to all who knew her.

A visitation for Ada will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McDonald's Chapel, 1275 Continental Street, Redding, CA 96001. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1275 Continental Street, Redding, CA 96001. A reception will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 1275 Continental Street, Redding, CA 96001.
