Charlene Burch

Charlene Carole Burch lost her long battle with cancer at St. Elizabeth Hospital on January 4th at the age of 74. She was born in Red Bluff, and apart from attending Chico State College, enjoyed her entire life in Red Bluff. Charlene loved children and encouraging them to read, demonstrated in her being the librarian at Jackson Heights Elementary School for nearly 40 years. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and sewing, and she enjoyed the company of her dog Taffy.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents (Charles and Edna Burch), older sister JoAnne Burch and nephew Jeffrey Burch. She is survived by her brother Chuck Burch (spouse Cheri) from Sandia Park, NM; nephews Carl Burch (spouse Paula) from Kirkland, WA, and Hal Burch (spouse Kimberly) from Murrysville, PA, as well as 4 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, and many cousins.

Her memorial funeral service will be held at Sunrise Bible Fellowship (956 Jackson, Red Bluff) January 15th at 2PM, followed by a reception. Private family interment will occur at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Red Bluff High School Scholarship Fund” with “Charlene Burch” in the memo line and mailed to Red Bluff Union High School District Office, PO Box 1507, Red Bluff, CA 96080.
