He was the husband of Christine A. (Coombs) Hartline.
Born in Oley, he was a son of the late Harold and Helen (Houck) Hartline.
He was employed as the Director of Maintenance at the former Leader Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Laureldale, then Manor Care Nursing Home for many years before retiring.
He was a graduate of Oley Valley High School and a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Oley. His passion was exploring nature on his four wheelers and motorcycles. He especially loved his pet dogs and cats. He is survived by his dog Cody and cat Casper; both comforting him until the end. Rich’s true passion in life however was spending time with his grandchildren. He was proud to have lived long enough to become a great grandfather to his great granddaughter Emerson.

Also surviving are his step children, Charles Johnston of Temple, Robert Johnston of Wyomissing and Laura Johnston of Exeter Township.
