We are heartbroken to announce the death of our father, George Frank Unger. He passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his parents, George Joseph Unger, Sr. and Mary Stephani (Stoicsits) Unger; his infant brother George Joseph Unger, Jr., his brother Joseph Unger, Sr., brother Charles "Rex" Unger, brother John S. Unger, sister Mary (Unger) Klepeiss; sister Rose Unger; and sister Appollonia "Pauline" (Unger) Lipko. He was also predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Esposito) Unger.
George leaves behind two daughters; Jean (Carabello) Domsic, wife of Leon Domsic; Mary Stephani (Unger) Arbogast, wife of Curt Arbogast; and a son, Anthony Carabello, husband of Dawn (Jones) Carabello. He also leaves behind 2 sisters, Theresa (Unger) Kistler and Margaret Ann Unger (Sister Stephanie Marie, O.S.F.), 5 grandchildren- Nicole (Carabello) Dominijanni, wife of David Dominijanni, Olivia (Carabello) Westley, wife of Michael Westley, Brian Domsic, Will Domsic, and Wesley Arbogast, husband of Nicole (Raifsnider) Arbogast. In addition, George had 3 great-grandchildren. Oliver and Charlotte Westley and Annabelle Dominijanni.
George was born in Northampton, Pennsylvania and attended Our Lady of Hungary Catholic School and Northampton High School. During his school years, he was known for his athletic abilities exceling in the sport of football. He spent the greater part of his working life in retail and most notably as the manager at Two Guys department stores both in Allentown and Reading. He served as the Secretary for the St. Joseph Society in Northampton, PA and emceed special events. He enjoyed retirement and all it had to offer in The Villages, Florida. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
George was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10am in St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, 42 Kerrick Road, Shillington, PA 19607. At the request of the family, everyone is asked to meet at church. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Aumans, Inc., Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
