Claude was born in Obelisk, PA on September 9, 1936 a son of the late Claude Stoudt and Maynra E. (Hilbert) Shaner.
Claude was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was selfless in helping others was part of his natural genuineness. He grew up on a dairy farm and eventually was employed by Matlack Trucking in tank sanitizing for 34 years retiring there. Claude attended car shows and loved displaying his pride and joy, his '64 Cherry Red Ford Galaxy. He was an avid hunter of archery and rifle and enjoyed the great outdoors. Claude liked tooling around with his ATV's, spending time in the mountains, and he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his 3 children; Claudia (Shaner), wife of John McCalicher, Claude A. "Bob" Shaner, and Crystal E. (Shaner), wife of Robert Troop, brother Harry Shaner, 2 granddaughters: Aimee (McCalicher) Luo and Carey (McCalicher) Coyle, and 4 great grandchildren: Christian Luo, Gabriel Luo, Nicholas Luo and Kynlee Coyle.
Claude was predeceased by his siblings: Viola (Shaner) Greist, Verna (Shaner) Good, Annabelle Shaner, Eleanor Shaner, Pearl (Shaner) Greist, Arlene (Shaner) Chaback, Betty (Shaner) Dolla, Shirley (Shaner) Dolla, Helen Shaner, Charles Shaner, Sarah (Shaner) Maburger, and Elmer Hilbert.
A Viewing for Claude will be Friday, March 1, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Rd, Douglassville, PA 19518, followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 4:30 PM.
Burial will be private.
