Anthony “Tony” Vaccaro, 77, of Reading, passed away peacefully on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in Country Meadows Assisted Living with his daughter by his side. He was the husband of the late Carole J. (Reinert) Vaccaro. The couple was married in Reading on January 26, 1957 and shared 53 years of marriage until Carole passed away on September 30, 2010.
Tony was born in Reading on November 16, 1936, he was a son of the late Giuseppe F. and Mary C. (Iannelli) Vaccaro. He was a US Army veteran and served from 1958 to 1961.
Tony was the consummate hardworking, business man. He and his family have and had many businesses in the Reading Area; Vaccaro Brother’s Sunoco from 1962 to 1975, Vaccaro’s Distributing from 1974 to 1996, Vaccaro’s Ave. 6 Pack on 10th and Franklin from 1988 to 1998, Mr. V’s 6 Pack on Schuylkill Ave. from 1996 to 2001, Vaccaro’s Bungalo from 1967 to present, Vaccaro’s Auto Buyers of Reading from 1972 to present and Vaccaro’s Mini Mall from 1984 to present.
The Vaccaro’s have a summer home in Temple and Tony enjoyed those times with his family at gatherings and reunions. He was in charge of the emergency and tow trucks at the Reading Fairgrounds Raceway. He loved Corvettes and was an avid bowler.
Tony is survived by two children: son, Joseph F. Vaccaro, Sr. and his wife, Debbie of Oley and daughter, Mari Vaccaro of Temple; three grandchildren: Joseph F. Vaccaro, Jr. and his wife, Lacey of Reading, Christina M. Vaccaro of Reiffton and Jason M. Vaccaro and his wife, Heather of Reading; and six great grandchildren: Aubree M. Vaccaro, Katelyn N. Vaccaro, Andrew D. Latourette, Zoe B. Behm, Mya R. Vaccaro and Joseph A. Vaccaro .
Also surviving are ten siblings: Clara Ingram, Angelina Harris, Josphine Condos, Samuel Vaccaro Carmella Chipperfeild, Angelo Vaccaro, John Vaccaro, Joseph Vaccaro, Antoinette Bauer and Jennie Redcay.
He is predeceased by five siblings: Grace Bellanca, Mary Veneziale, Micaline Etchberger, Michael Vaccaro and Baby Jennie Vaccaro.
A Funeral Service for Tony will be at 11:00am on Monday, November 17, 2014 in Auman’s Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Monday from 9 to 11:00am. Tony will be laid to rest next to his wife, Carole in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
