Andrew Richardson "Rick" Morton, 64, of Reading, passed away peacefully May 10, 2017 in the Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marie A. (Matchicka) Morton for the last 20 years, having married April 19, 1997.
Born in Elkton, MD on June 30, 1952, he was the son of the late William Curtis Morton, Sr. and Lillian Mary (Winterling) Morton.
Rick was a 1971 graduate of Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA and also earned certification as a pipefitter. Rick was employed at East Penn Manufacturing since 2011. He was formerly employed as a pipefitter at Occidental Chemical and as a maintenance technician at Volkswagen.
Rick enjoyed working on cars in his younger years and was passionate about fishing. For the past 20 years, he was an active member of the Country Western Dancers of Reading.
In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by his son, Mark Andrew Morton and his wife, Michelle Morton of Boyertown, PA; his daughter, Barbara Gale (Morton) Brauher and husband, Scott Brauher of Vestaburg, MI; and stepdaughter Nicole M. (Matchicka) Kelly wife of Gregory Kelly of Ellicott City, MD; and 6 grandchildren: David, Cheyenne, Jaqueline, Jakob, Ryan, and Connor.
Rick is also survived by 3 sisters: Monte Lee Morton of West Grove, PA, Daisy Mae Albanese of Germantown, MD, and Alta Rae Sprenkle, wife of Ron Sprenkle of Youngsville, NC; a brother, William Curtis Morton, Jr., and wife Patricia Morton of Joppa, MD; and also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister, Ramona May, wife of Ron May.
Services for Rick will be held at 11am on Monday, May, 15, 2017 in Auman’s Inc. Funeral Home, 390 West Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home from 10-11 am. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park following services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rick’s memory may be directed to support the McGlinn Family Regional Cancer Center.
