Wanda was born in Washington, Pennsylvania on January 8, 1941 to parents Carl and Vera (King) Summers. She graduated from Ravenna Township School with the class of 1958. As a teenager she worked at Fowlers Drug Store in downtown Ravenna and attended Boheckers Business College. On September 16, 1962 she married Dennis Reed and began their life together. Wanda enjoyed a career at Parker-Hanifin as a purchasing agent and retired after many years of service. She attended the Ravenna Assembly of God Church while living in Ravenna and also enjoyed her involvement with the local “Red Hat Society”. After Dennis passed away in 2003, Wanda moved to Venice, FL. where she resided for fifteen years. Wanda loved singing with her sisters and also watching sunsets. She also enjoyed walking and biking and loved the beach.
Wanda is survived by her children: Troy (Carla) Reed, Kimberly (Bryan) Burr, and Nichole (John) Ziats as well as her grandchildren: Robert & Grant Reed, Reed (Priscilla) Burr, Riley (Madisen) Burr, Raelyn Burr and LeeAnna (Curt Gaski) Townend and Johnny Ziats. Left also to cherish her memory are her siblings: Pat (Leonard) Retherford, Pam (Stephen) Lee, Ida Summers, Barb (Walt) Miazga, Debbie (Jim) Maddern, Cheryl (Rich) Creech, Nelva (Mike) White, Mark (Amy) Summers and Bob (Linda) Summers. Wanda is also survived by many nieces and nephews, her companion of many years, Brian Simmons and sisters-in-laws: Ann Summers and Lisa Summers.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dennis Reed and her brothers: Carl “Sonny” Summers and Donald Summers.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm when the Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Billy Burr, will begin at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
