He was born July 4, 1949, in Byesville, Ohio, to parents Robert Stanley and Pauline Marie (Broome) Redman. Roger proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart Medal.
He retired from Goodyear Aerospace in Akron and also worked for many years as a mechanic, operating Red’s Custom Auto Body in Akron. Red loved riding his classic 1973 Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a member of Born Free Motorcycle Club.
He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, or to partake in his daily 4:20 pastime. One of Red’s favorite sayings was “4:19, got a minute?”
Red is survived by his daughters: Barb Nunlist and Sandy (fiancé Justin Price) Sizemore, his grandchildren: Travis (Diana) Nunlist, Shane (Kaitlyn) Nunlist, Shelby Nunlist, Katlyn (Sean) Buckhave, Kristian Falcon, Adrian Falcon, Alisia Falcon, Oscar Falcon, and Dalton Rooney, as well as his great-grandchildren: Braxton Buckhaven, Asher Nunlist, and Brinnley Nunlist. Also surviving are Red’s brothers: Butch Redman and Charles (Debra) Redman, sisters: Shirley (Alan) Purdy and Dorothy Stout, sister-in-law Frieda Redman, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Michael Boling and Jimmy Mackim.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Redman, and his nephew Andy Stout.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM with funeral services following at 3:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will take place at the Dayton National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 1:30 PM. Procession will form at Tobias Funeral Home - Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave
Dayton, OH 45420, at 12:30 PM.
