He was born September 20, 1961, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Chester “Shorty” and Dorothy (Simms) Donell. Roger worked at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent for over 46 years, recently retiring as the sexton.
He was a former member of the Deerfield Fire Department. Roger enjoyed drag racing. He loved to race his 1974 Chevy Nova at many local dragstrips.
Roger is survived by his mother Dorothy Donell, his children: Roger (Heidi) Donell Jr., Chester Donell, and Stephanie (Aaron) Fox, as well as his loving eight grandchildren, a great-grandson, his brother Albert (Bev) Donell, his sister Barb (Clair) Simpson, and his long time companion Jean Chrest.
Roger was preceded in death by his father Chester Donell.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor David Ballert on Friday at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
