Richard W. Gardner

Richard was born in Marengo, Ohio to parents Frederick and Henrietta (Rowlen) Gardner. He grew up in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School. Richard attended Kent State University where he attained a Bachelor’s in business. After college, Richard worked for an insurance company before enjoying a long career at Upjohn (now Pfizer) Pharmaceuticals.

He and his wife, Judy, were married in December 1960 and together raised two daughters in Eastlake, Ohio. He and Judy attended the Methodist Church and was a member of the Toast Masters, a public speaking group. Richard enjoyed sports, especially golf, baseball, football and fishing. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. Richard was a lover of dogs and enjoyed time reading the newspaper.

Richard is survived by his daughters Lisa (Brock) Bierman and Ellen (Robert) Panelley. He also leaves his grandchildren Allison (Andrew) Bennett and Robert Bierman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy (Forker) Gardner and his sister Patricia A. Huebner.

Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 11:00 am until the funeral service, officiated by Pastor David Ballert, beginning at 11:30am. Interment next to his wife will immediately follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
