The world lost a beloved mother and mamaw on January 23rd, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Even though Pat was fighting, it never stopped her from spending time with her family. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Patricia Jean Allen (McClure) was born on February 23rd, 1953 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She graduated from Stow High school class of 1971. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Gary E. Allen, parents Norris and Icie McClure and in-laws Gene and Nancy Allen.
She is survived by her children Joshua (Lorrie), Leah Woods (Lloyd), Lucas, Aaron, Sarah Stanley (Aaron), Seth (Ella) and grandchildren Nathaniel, Marianne, Wilder, Coralee, Adler, Emmett, Dawsey, Lawrence and Acre. And by siblings Denise McClure- Drabick, Norris (Erica) McClure, Robert McClure, and Rebecca McClure.
Pat will always be remembered for her volunteer service and love for the Ohio 4-H program. She was a 27-year 4-H volunteer. Pat was inducted into the Ohio 4-H Hall of Fame in 2019, being honored for all her years of dedication to the youth of Portage County. She founded Everything Under the Sun 4-H club in 1997, where she treasured her time spent passing on her knowledge of literally everything under the sun. Every August, Pat could be found judging 4-H clothing projects in counties all across the state and at The Ohio State Fair. End of August was spent at the Portage County Randolph Fair where she supported all of her club members with their projects. She leaves a lasting imprint on many lives in Portage County and across Ohio.
Pat and her husband Gary were pioneers in the homeschooling movement, beginning homeschooling their six children in the 80’s. They founded HOPE, a local homeschool support group that grew to over 200 families. Pat and Gary also served on the board of the state homeschool organization CHEO for many years, and enjoyed traveling to national conventions all across the United States with their children. Pat loved organizing field trips, education fairs, historical plays, and ski club.
Patricia loved her family more than anything and dedicated her life to raising her six children. She worked tirelessly to provide a loving, caring and nurturing environment for them. She will always be remembered as a woman who could do anything she set her mind to, as someone who loved a good prank and the toughest woman anyone could ever know. She fought for more time with her family and every second of her fight was valued.
The family is holding a private service with a memorial to be held at a later date.
