Mary Jane was born in Ravenna, Ohio on July 7, 1929 to parents Arthur and Mary (Luli) Knapp.
In earlier years she had worked at Oak Rubber Co. making rubber gloves then went on to Kent State University where she enjoyed working in the library as an assistant. She had attended Immaculate Conception Church and St. Peters of the Field.
Mary Jane also enjoyed her association with her charade and card club groups. Gardening, knitting crocheting, reading and baking were her favorite pastimes.
Mary Jane is survived by her children Ramona (Jerry) Wise, Dan (Sue) Black, Rebecca (Chris) Reminder and Denise (John) Burks. She also leaves her 11 beloved grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Linda Black.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Van Note Black, her son Van Note Black Jr. and 5 siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. William Kraynak, will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna. Inurnment will follow at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
