She was born July 13, 1940, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, to parents Francis Jesse and Mary (Wilson) Cartwright. Linda graduated from Ravenna High School in 1958. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated member of Portage Community Chapel and instrumental when building the addition to the church by helping to provide baked goods for the volunteers. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through life’s journey. A member of the Inheritors Bible Study, Linda served the Lord faithfully.
On May 2, 1959, she married the love of her life, Ralph W. Evans. Sadly, Ralph passed away October 3, 2020. Linda is also preceded in death by her parents, her son Ralph Edward Evans, and her siblings: Ted, Francis, Mildred, Irene, Sarah Jane, Leroy, Betty, Deloris, and Mike.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Linda faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking/baking from scratch – including cakes, pies, candies, and her famous apple dumplings. A woman of faith and the heart of the Evans family, Linda and her husband Ralph let their light shine, through their tireless Christian example. She was always willing to help with whatever was needed and volunteered often with local organizations such as the clothing center.
Linda possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her infectious smile, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.
With a real zest for life, Linda loved to listen to bluegrass and gospel music, travel, bowl, play games/cards, sew, care for animals, work on puzzles with her Grandchildren, contribute in Bible study, chat with friends and family, and garden…just to name a few.
Linda is survived by her children: Sharon (Ivan) Krupansky, Kathleen (James) Sands, Daniel (Sarah) Evans, as well as her grandchildren: Robbie, Joshua (Brooke), Emma, Jesse (Lynnette), Ralph, Alexis, Rebecca, Sabrina, and Daniel Jr., and her great-grandchildren: Jessica, Jacob, Jemma, Jesse Jr., and Bailey, along with her sister Bernice Dallas, her brothers Jim (Carol) Cartwright and Bill Cartwright as well as generations of loving nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff at The Inn at the Pines in Hiram for helping us love and care for our mother and at times our father. She enjoyed the wonderful staff and the beautiful setting.
