James “Gar” Lee Gargano, age 75 of Ravenna, passed away October 13, 2024, at Lakeside Campground in Berlin Township. He was born July 7, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, one of seven children to parents William and Ella (Smith) Gargano.
Gar proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had several careers throughout his life, but mostly centered around truck driving. He was a member of the Ravenna Eagles and American Legion.
Gar truly was one of a kind. He will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor and outgoing personality. Gar was a caring person with a compassionate heart, even if it didn’t always show. He enjoyed camping and made many lifelong friends at the campground. Gar will also be remembered for his questionable taste in music.
Gar is survived by his beloved wife Pam (Sowers) Gargano, who he married September 26, 1992. He is also survived by his son James (Holly) Gargano Jr., step-sons Wayne (Wendy) McPeak and Travis McPeak, his grandchildren: Alexis, Cameron, Hunter, Logan and Boe, along with four great-grandchildren.
Gar was preceded in death by his son Jason Gargano.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gar’s life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at the Ravenna Eagles Club, 812 Cleveland Road, Ravenna. There will be a brief pause at 12:30 PM for Military Honors and some words of reflection, afterwards the party will continue.
