Gregory Marshall Dean

He was born May 29th, 1956 to Harvey and Laura Dean of Newton Falls. Greg was a graduate of Southeast high school and attended Spartan school of aeronautics in Oklahoma. Greg met the love of his life, Vickey Guy in high school and celebrated 46 years of marriage. He owned Dean’s Fence for over 35 years. Greg never met a stranger. He loved to ride his Harley with his beloved dogs. Greg was most passionate about his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by Iva (Tyler) Gozdan, Gabriel Carrington Jr., Marisa Vinez, Madelynn Vinez, Jessica Gomez, Sam Gomez, Ava Gomez, and his great grandson Michael Gozdan. Greg is survived by parents Harvey and Laura Dean, his wife, Vickey Dean, his daughters, Maggie (Jim) Gomez and Nickolette Dean. His siblings Brian (Fran) Dean, Lenett (Dave) Szczurek, Brett Dean, Bart (Bev) Dean and Martha (Dave) Duncan, and many, many nieces and nephews.

He was a hard man, but easy to love. Dressed in bibs and unzipped boots. Strong and burley on the outside with the most tender heart, especially when it came to kids and his dogs. If your child was introduced to Papaw Greg, your child was no longer yours. That was now his baby. He loved and treated every single one of them like his very own. He took the role of Papaw to the extreme and did it with pride. Greg lived his life by his own set of rules, he absolutely did exactly what he wanted when he wanted. We often joke that the rules don’t apply to Greg Dean. If you ever had the pleasure of sitting around the fire with Greg or sharing a Long Island at his favorite bar, you knew the wicked sense of humor he had. All of life’s problems could be solved with two small phrases of wisdom, “I don’t know what to tell you” and “don’t sweat the petty things, just pet the sweaty things.”

He was the most unorganized messy man that ever lived but there was also not one thing that he didn’t know how to do or fix. He believed in family, he believed that there was nothing more important. He loved fiercely and passionately. Greg loved a good conspiracy theory and could talk for days about them. For all the people that knew him and loved him, our world will forever be dimmed. We will miss the crooked smile and the way his eyebrows would get pointy right before he would say something rotten and off the wall. We will miss the way he walked into a room straight and tall like he owned the place.

Our hearts now have an empty place where only the memories of you exist. He forever changed our world and our world will forever be changed without him. Greg Dean, you were the rock to so many and the foundation in which we stood on. Till we see you again old man…..

Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Tuesday, October 11, 2020, from 4:00pm until 6:00 PM with a funeral service, officiated by Pastor Brad Edder, beginning at 6:00 PM.
