Daniel Francis O’Donnell, age 87 of Rootstown, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born July 2, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to parents Daniel P. and Margaret (Stefonov) O’Donnell.
Dan proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. After his service he began a lengthy career as a journeyman plumber with Pittsburgh Plumbers Union Local 27. After his “retirement,” Dan went to work for the US Government in the Pittsburgh Federal Building and the VA Hospital.
Dan enjoyed hunting, camping, and watching sports. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Elks and the American Legion. Above all, Dan was a loving family man and cherished his time spent with them.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife Barbara (Beron) O’Donnell, who he married June 27, 1959. He is also survived by children: Mark (Lori) O’Donnell and Dawn (Jeff) Blake, grandsons: Chad (Torey) O’Donnell, Bret O’Donnell, Justin (Shannon) Blake, and Steven Blake and fiancée Taha Sheikh. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Fynn O’Donnell, Mac O’Donnell and Eleanor Blake. He will also be dearly missed by his siblings: Margaret (James) Constantin, Janet Fiore, and James (Carmen) O’Donnell and generations of loving nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patty and husband George Adams, and brother-in-law, Dave Beron.
Friends and family will be received Friday, January 5, 2024, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, OH 44266. A committal service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, 943 Gibsonia Rd, Cheswick, PA 15024, followed by burial with full military honors.
