Bob was the first child born to his late parents, Jack Benny and Mary Lee (Meadows) Edwards on December 10, 1961, in Chicago, IL. On November 6, 2004, Bob married Sonya, the love of his life, and settled in Windham, Ohio, where they raised their two beautiful daughters, who he could not be more proud.
After many years in the restaurant business, Bob earned his real estate license in 2006 and worked as a real estate agent and property manager.
Bob was known as a man who loved his family and his Lord and Saviour above all else. He was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ravenna where he served in several ministries, of which his most treasured was the Special Needs Ministry. He was a devoted friend and he knew no strangers. To be known by Bob, was to be loved by Bob.
Bob’s greatest joys were Faith, Family, and Football. You didn’t have to know Bob long, to learn of his love for Alabama Crimson Tide football. As much as Bob loved Alabama football, his true passion was his concern for lost souls and sharing the saving grace of Jesus with everyone and anyone that crossed his path. He truly was the Godly leader that God asked him to be for his family, always teaching them to trust the Lord and to do what is right. It is a blessing to Bob’s family to know he is with Jesus right now.
Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Sonya, daughters Ashlee (Tyler) Lull and Amber May, brother Benjy (Carla) Edwards, sister Mindy (Eddie) Stringfield, nieces and nephews, Aaron Edwards, Lyndsay (Andrew) Collins, Anthony Innella, Jordan (Tori) Innella, Tyler (Courtney) Edwards, Dominic Stringfield, great nephew Jimmy Innella, many wonderful in-laws, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sandra Edwards.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Davita Ravenna Dialysis Center for providing many years of the best care. They also thank PARTA for transporting Bob to and from his dialysis appointments and Crossroads Hospice staff for their compassionate end-of-life care.
Bob was extremely grateful for Bethel’s livestream services that allowed him to be part of every service during the years it was physically impossible for him to be there in person. In lieu of flowers, Bob’s request was that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church’s livestream ministry.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, 745 N. Freedom St., Ravenna, with funeral services officiated by Pastor David Ballert at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Windham Township Cemetery.
