Bill was born to Elizabeth Dunkelberger Correll and Jacob Alvin Correll in Newark, Delaware on August 4, 1928, the 5th of 7 children.
He served as a signalman in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and graduated from The University of Delaware in 1954. On June 12th 1954 he married Joyce Lee Davis. Bill worked as a salesman first for Ralston Purina and then for Merck, Inc. from 1968 until he retired in 1993. He volunteered at the soup kitchen in Raleigh, on the Women’s Prison Council and served as both Sunday School Superintendent and on the Board of Deacon’s at Pullen Memorial Church. Bill was a regular tennis player at the Raleigh Racquet Club.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce, son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sherry Correll of Washington, NC; son, Victor Correll of Raleigh; son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Ann Correll of Fort Mill, SC; daughter, Andrea Correll of Raleigh; grandchildren Katie, William, Curtis Jay, Seth, Erin, and Ian; and his youngest brother, Henry of Bear, Delaware. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Alex.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17 at 10:30 AM at Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community with Nancy Petty of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church officiating.
