Yes, this is 11 years later, but sometimes a name pops into my memory and then I do a web search on that name.  I did not have a lot of personal contact with Bill, an occasional phone call and an email, for he was not in my circle.   The connection was via his mother, Ruth, who lived across the street from me when I moved to Greenville ,NC in 1979.   I probably spoke with his mother many times a week, prior to her passing in the mid-1980s.

My sincere condolences to the Arnold family.  Bill was a thoughtful mentor and friend to me on the Film Council and previously when he served the Hunt Administration as the first champion and Director of the Film Office.  He is missed.

So sorry to hear that Bill has passed away. Wanda contacted me to let me know. Years and miles may separate us (I live outside Dallas), but my thoughts are very much with you and Stephen during this difficult period.

Dear Dorothy,
I was so saddened to learn of the death of Billy.  I graduated from GHS in 1955.  If I remember correctly, Billy was in my brother, Frank's, class.  I have great memories of Billy.  Not only was he a great Sportswriter, he was a great artist, as well.  How proud I have been to follow his life with the Department of Tourism and the film industry in NC.  Please know of our sympathy to you and your family.

Bill was a true innovator in the Film Commission movement. He was both a gentleman and a keen competitor who championed the interests of North Carolina. He was a friend and mentor to so many of us in the industry.

I am deeply sadden to learn of the passing of Bill.  I had the honor and privilege of knowing him for over 40 years.  When he was Director of the NC Film Office Bill asked me to explore possible movie location sites in northeastern NC mainly in the Roanoke-Chowan region.  We developed a list for him and over the years I met with him on numerous occasions and each time it was a joy.  He was a great gentleman and a very fine man and a real asset to North Carolina. He will be missed. My sympathy and prayers are extended to his family.

To the family of Mr. Arnold: I am sorry for your loss. I hope your family will rely on the comforting words of God's Word, the Bible.

It was my pleasure and honor to have worked with Bill in the Department of Commerce. He was a gentleman and a wonderful representative of and ambassador for North Carolina to the film industry. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

It was a true pleasure to get to know Bill over the years. He was himself part of NC film history and there from the get-go. Bill was a diplomat and a true southern gentleman. He will certainly be missed.

I was always greeted with a hello and a handshake by Bill. He helped get the film industry started. Thanks for everything.

As a former member of the NC Film Council, it was a pleasure to get to know Bill.  His tidbits of NC film history were items of great fasination to me.  My sincere condolences to the Arnold family.

Bill Arnold was a true professional in every sense of the word.  He was very successful in bringing major film projects to North Carolina.  My sympathy and prayer is with the family.
