She was born in Orangeburg, SC on August 24, 1928 to the late Johnny Jefferson Pearson and Mary Julia Winn Pearson.
Vivian worked for more than 20 years at W.T. Grants in Raleigh and also retired in August of 1993 from the NC DMV.
She is survived by her sons, David W. Smith and John L. Tart of Raleigh; daughter, Mary Tart Doyle of Raleigh; granddaughter, Meredith Kristen Doyle of Raleigh; three loving dogs, Bubbles, Ike and Paris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David McKenley Smith; parents, Johnny Jefferson Pearson and Mary Winn Pearson and brother, James O’dell Pearson.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-6 pm, Sunday May 7, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary’s St. Raleigh, NC 27605.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Monday May 8, 2017 at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Garner, NC.
