Virginia (“Ginny”) was born July 31, 1939 in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Charles Reed Massey and Claudia (Wilkerson) Massey. She attended Brigham Young University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University, graduating with high honors in social work. She worked in the office of Dr. Albin Johnson for a number of years before marrying Mr. Tucker in 1992.
Virginia was a devoted member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a wonderful ballroom dancer. She lovingly cared for her mother and aunt Hazel Paschall, who raised her and her brothers, for many years.
In addition to her husband of 30 years, Virginia is survived by her daughter, Michelle Draughon of Hurdle Mills, NC; son Daniel Savage of Colorado; son Benjamin Spicher of Raleigh; brother Bill Massey and wife Ann of Salt Lake City; brother Bobby and wife Lynell of Raleigh; grandson Jay Draughon of Raleigh; and nephews Michael, Randy, and Greg Massey.
A funeral service was held on April 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.
