The family of Rebecca L. “Betsy” Cornblatt, 78, is saddened to inform her friends of her passing on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Betsy had been a resident of Capitol Towers and has made numerous friends over the years there and at Tabernacle Baptist Church where she retired as a financial secretary after sixteen years.
Betsy was the daughter of Ralph Norwood Carroll and Sabra May Floyd; born in Henderson, NC on March 19, 1931. The family moved into Raleigh where Betsy attended Broughton High School, graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral and attended Peace College. She was recruited by the CIA and worked in Washington, DC where she met and married Gerald Cornblatt.
Betsy enjoyed painting landscape and still life artworks, collecting cookbooks and watching cooking shows. She was active in the choir at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in her younger years and especially enjoyed her Sunday School at Tabernacle.
Those left to cherish her memory as a loving mother, grandmother and friend are her two daughters: Lorri Olszanowski and husband Roy, of Raleigh and Robbi Hall and Anne Heath, of Raleigh; and by her grandchildren: Barbara, Jennifer and Steven.
A daughter, Sharon Ann Cornblatt preceded Betsy in death, as well as a brother, Norwood Carroll.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, February 24th from 6-8 PM at Brown- Wynne Funeral Home (1701 E. Millbrook Road). A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 3 PM in the chapel of the funeral home, with family to receive friends following the service.
