Ray Earnhardt Jr.

Carlee “Ray” Earnhardt, Jr., 68, of Raleigh NC, died on Saturday, November 3, 2012, following a long and valiant battle with cancer. Carlee was born in Albemarle, NC on October 19, 1944 to Carlee R. Earnhardt, Sr. and Irine Earnhardt.

Ray was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and was a true Tarheel fan. He worked for many years with the American Lung Association as their VP of Finance for the Atlantic Coast Region before retirement. Additionally, being a retired Major with the NC Air National Guard meant a great deal to Ray and his family.

Ray is survived by his wife, Pat Earnhardt; sons, Christopher Earnhardt and his wife Tara of Apex, NC; Andrew Earnhardt and his wife Christine of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Sue Earnhardt of Myrtle Beach, SC; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He is also survived by “Muggs”.

Ray is predeceased by his both parents and his brother, CMSAF David Earnhardt.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.

A private burial will be held in Raleigh Memorial Park at a later time.
