Raj was a force for good in the Social Justice Club at Raleigh Charter High School. I will never forget his affable ways and enthusiasm for investigating issues. 

You are in my thoughts on this difficult day.

I didn't know Raj in his life, but through your memories, Pooja. Today, on the 4th anniversary of Raj's passing, I watched his last rites, and experienced the visceral pain of seeing what you and your parents went through. While I didn't know you then to have been able to share any form of support, I want to take today to express that I dedicate this day to thinking of you and your family by spending the onset of today with you all in spirit, and by crying with you all as you said your final goodbyes to your beloved baby. I admire your father's eulogy addressed only to Raj, and I couldn't keep my eyes and thoughts off your mother. My heart aches for how much you went through at such a young age. I am sending you many hugs back in time to the 24-year old you, and all the years that have passed since. Loads of hugs to you Pooja, and to uncle and aunty.

I miss you so much, Raj, All of our simple happy memories—, dancing, sitting in the car talking, swimming, eating—made me so happy to spend time with you. You are loved and appreciated and missed dearly.

Raj’s smiling eyes, quick wit, gifted drumming and mallet skills, engaged leadership and yes, antics, were a daily joy for myself and his fellow band members. From our family to yours, our hearts break for you  all.  Raj  brought smiles and energy to the dojo, and we wish him peace for all time. Lots of prayers being said for your family.

I am heart broken to learn of Raj’s loss.  He was a fine young man.  I enjoyed training with him at Triangle’s Best Karate in Raleigh over the last several years before he headed off to Duke,  He was bright, engaging, humble, and a passionate Karateka.   We trained and tested for our Ni Dan (2nd degree) Shotokan black belt together.  Being more than twice his age, his Kihon was at least twice my speed, so I was often in catch up mode during the test, but he was always respectful.  I will keep him in my prayers and remember fondly the fine young man you see in our training photo attached. 💪💪💪👊👊👊🥋🥋🥋🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Raj was such a bright light in class and a compassionate, caring member of the Social Justice Club. My thoughts are with Pooja and the whole family. 

Raj was a brother in my pledge class in SigEp this year. He was one of only two brothers in our class with a car and we would often have to beg the other brother to use his car, but with Raj, we never had to ask twice. Not only would he lend us his car whenever we needed to go somewhere, but he would also offer to drive us himself, singing and laughing the entire time in the driver's seat. His generosity and willingness to help was amazing. I only got to experience this firsthand in what may seem like a small way, but from what I have heard about Raj with Camp Kesem and his life in general, this was the norm. He was an amazing person and brother to me and the entire Duke community and truly made everyone he met want to be a better person. May he rest in peace. Love you Raj.
