Patricia Ann Wilson

Patricia Ann Wilson was born on April 30, 1933 in Greer, South Carolina to the late Stanyarn Verius (‘SV’) and Marion Lois Culbreth Wilson and passed from the shadows of earth into the full glory of God’s presence on June 25, 2021 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was raised in Greer as the youngest of six children which included her three brothers and two sisters: Wilburn, Stan, Austin, Mildred, and Sybil. She was married on November 19, 1952 to the late Hugh Marion Wilson, Sr. who preceded her in death on November 10, 1986. In addition to her husband and parents, she also was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children Sherry Lynn Wilson Powers (Mike), Lydia Renee Wilson Monroe (John) and Hugh Marion Wilson, Jr; grandchildren Jonathan Andrew Powers (Faith), Leah Catherine Powers, Hugh Marion Wilson, III (Brittany), Mauri Katherine Wilson Shembeda (Jesse), Noel Christine Wilson, Owen Paul Wilson, Abigal Elizabeth Monroe, and Aaron James Monroe; great-grandchildren Audrey Grace Powers, Harper Quinn Wilson, Elizabeth Joy Powers, Mayla Addiah Shembeda; and several nieces and nephews.

Three words describe the eternal significance of Pat Wilson’s life: prayer, people, and patience. She believed the Gospel, trusted Jesus Christ as Savior, and followed Him as Lord. She lived a life of prayer, beginning each day with the Word of God which shaped her heart and ordered her daily activities. She loved people, always ready for a conversation with a stranger as well as family and friends. And she was a non-anxious presence, patiently listening, learning, and giving space for grace to have its full effect on all she loved.

Pat Wilson’s greatest loves were the Lord, her husband, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the Church, her friends, chocolate, strong coffee, and the beach.
