Patricia Brown Moss

Patricia Warwick Brown Moss, 90 died peacefully at home in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Thursday, March 21, 2024. She was born December 12,1933 to the late Lawrence Pitts Brown and Anne Warwick Brown, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Patti attended the Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia, made her debut at the Chattanooga Cotton Ball, and in 1956, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and received the Women's Athletic Association Award her senior year.

In 1957, Patti married William Eagles Moss. Bill and Patti had two wonderful daughters, Anne Warwick and Tricia, whom she loved dearly. She absolutely adored her four granddaughters, Anna, Erin, Grace, and Katherine.

Patti taught school in the Atlanta and Raleigh Public Schools and enjoyed working and serving on the boards of various civic groups including the NC Bicentennial Commission, the Junior League of Raleigh, the Raleigh Fine Arts Society, the Rex Hospital Guild where she designed, planted, and maintained the hospital’s Atrium Gardens and Convalescent Care Garden, the Museum of History Associates and the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC. Her many passions included gardening, tennis, oil painting, pottery making, bridge and reading. Patti also spent many happy years with family and friends in Carteret County including on the “North Star” at the Morehead City Yacht Basin and at Moss Landing in Atlantic Beach. A longtime member of the Carolina Country Club, the Assembly, and St. Christopher’s, she enjoyed dining, dancing, and socializing with family and friends.

As a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, she served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher, head of the Bible School, Flowers Chairman and caretaker of the Memorial Garden.

Patti is survived by her husband, William Eagles Moss; her daughters Anne Warwick Moss Werthmuller and husband, Dr. Carey Werthmuller of Charlotte and Patricia Eagles Moss LeCarpentier and husband, Edward Cook (“Tacker”) LeCarpentier III of Raleigh, and her granddaughters, Anna Michel Werthmuller, Erin Carey Werthmuller, Katherine Montagu LeCarpentier and Grace Eagles LeCarpentier.

After a private family graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, there will be a Service of Witness to the Resurrection at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27608, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, followed by a reception at the Church.
