Michael C. DiPierro was born in Utica, NY on June 17, 1957 to the late Senatro “Mike” DiPierro and Lucille DiPierro–Reina. He attended T.R. Proctor High School and Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY where he earned his AAS degree. While living in Utica Mike worked for The Rite Aide Corporation and Metropolitan Life Insurance. Since moving to North Carolina in November of 1997, Mike has been employed with the NC Department of Insurance as an Insurance Policy and Rate Analyst. He enjoyed his work and the many personal and business relationships he developed in his 18 year tenure with the DOI.
Mike is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 34 years, Deborah Kirk DiPierro, Precious Sons; Michael and Matthew DiPierro, Mother; Lucy DiPierro-Reina, Mother and Father-In-Law; Carol T. Kirk and the late Dean C. Kirk, Uncles and Aunts; Raymond and Lorraine Montanarelli, Rocco and Suzanne DiPierro; Brothers and Sisters; Stephen and Lynn Kirk, Sharon and Bill Carroll, Brian and Paige Kirk. He also leaves his cherished nieces and nephews, Joshua Kirk, Morgan and Madison Kirk, Olivia and Aliza Carroll. Mike also leaves several cousins and a multitude of treasured friends along with his canine companions, Harvey and Ruby who patiently waited for their buddy to share with them a bite of his every meal.
Mike’s greatest love was spending time with his family and friends; he reveled in the holidays, vacations and endless family gatherings. Mike was known to make the best sandwich in the south and he took any opportunity possible to cater to everyone and make sure everyone was happy. He enjoyed working with his hands and was no stranger to carpentry, remodeling and auto work. This summer Mike added boating to his list of joys and accomplishments and could often be seen enjoying the sunshine with family and friends on Falls Lake.
Mike’s spirit will live always and forever in the hearts of the people who loved him and he will be missed dearly.
The family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Monday, November 9th from 5-9 PM with a funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 10th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Leesville Road. Inurnment in the church columbarium will follow at a later date.
