Meredith was born on March 14, 1983 in Clinton, Iowa. Adopted by Gail Seyfried, she grew up in Wappingers Falls, New York; Plano, Texas; Raleigh, North Carolina; and, after going to live with Gary and Beverly Stecker, Tampa, Florida. Returning to Raleigh in 2011, she met Alexander Hamilton MacLeod IV, whom she married on December 12, 2012.
Her life was one that celebrated books; she constantly read, shared titles with both friends and strangers, and worked in a number of bookstores throughout her lifetime. Meredith met Alexander when they were both working for Barnes & Noble. Also fond of animals, she and her husband had recently adopted three cats named Aurora, Josephine, and Aloysius.
Meredith is remembered for her wit, her knowledge, her humor, and most importantly the care she showed to others. She would buy a treat for overworked cashiers, always made sure to tip well, opened her home to those in need for a night or a year, and spent uncounted nights fighting insomnia by chatting online with those who needed an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on.
A Celebration of Meredith's Life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Meredith’s name to No Kid Hungry, www.nokidhungry.org; the Humane Society of the United States, www.humanesociety.org; Planned Parenthood, www.plannedparenthood.org; or The Asatru Community Inc., www.theasatrucommunity.org; would be a fitting memorial.
Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh.
