Mary Jane Jones

Mary Jane Jones of Raleigh, NC passed away on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 at the age of 82. She was born on July 4th, 1941 in Buckingham County, Virginia. Where she grew up in Richmond, Virginia with her siblings, Raymond, Kenneth, Frank, Lillian Katherine.

She graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia 1960. Mary met Thurmon through a mutual friend and they were married soon after and spent 53 years together.

She worked as a Premium Processing Analyst for North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Company for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Thurmon Jones, jr, daughter Brenda Jones Blackwood, sisters Lillian,and Katherine and brother Frank.

She is survived by her son Michael W. Jones (Carla) and brothers Kenneth Mitchell (Margaret), and Raymond Mitchell and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She loved spending time with and helping out with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she never minded babysitting when asked.

The family would like to thank Karen Barefoot (Sissy) for the care and compassion she showed Mary Jane. They spent many hours watching TV, gossiping, shopping and going to lunch.

A Celebration of life service was at Mitchell’s Funeral home 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27610 on Monday October 23rd, 2023.

Interment followed at Raleigh Memorial Park 7501 Glenwood Ave Raleigh, NC
