Mary Hutchinson Greene

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ruffin Hutchison and Sallie Joines Hutchison as well as 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Kenneth Greene of Elizabethtown, NC. She loved the sweet nature of Elizabethtown and we are grateful for her many friends there and for the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Honey Greene Johnson of Raleigh, her son-in-law Chip Johnson and grandchildren: Mary Frances Johnson, Charlie Johnson, and Virginia Johnson; her son, CK Greene, Jr. of Dolphin, VA and grandchildren Savannah Greene and Kennedy Greene.

Mary was a science teacher who began her career in Miami, Florida until coming to Elizabethtown to teach for a total of 36 years. Through that time she had to learn a lot of names. Everyone just became "Honey, Durling, and Dear", I'm sure you heard her say it one million times. After retirement and the death of her husband, she moved to Raleigh to be near Honey. She loved her Raleigh friends and White Memorial Presbyterian Church.

The family would like to thank both churches as well as Hospice for the incredible care they have provided. She was so blessed!

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:30 am at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am - 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service on Monday at 3:30pm at Elizabethtown City Cemetery, in Elizabethtown, NC.
