Mary Dorothy Clagett

She was a flight attendant for American Airlines based in Los Angeles. Mary routinely flew the LA to Chicago route, catering to many Hollywood celebrities in the 1950’s.

She married Robert E. Clagett of Dayton, OH in 1952.

Their family grew as homesites changed from Cincinnati and Columbus, OH, to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA, to Bernardsville, NJ, then to Perry Park, CO, and finally settling in Raleigh, NC. With her sparkling personality, Mary made lifelong friends at each stop on her journey.

Mary relished entertaining family and friends with delicious food and beautiful décor. She enjoyed exciting travels across the world, including throughout Japan and Europe. Mary dedicated much of her life to being a caregiver, always putting others first. She will forever be remembered as a generous, compassionate, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all in our family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Pamela Ann Willett; and great granddaughter, Avery Ann Neill.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Gregory Clagett and John Clagett (Carol); four granddaughters, Kristi D’Albert (Richard), Jennifer Howell (Rob), Emily Neill (Andy), and Jaime Scott (Brian); as well as seven beautiful great-grandchildren; and many fur-babies, all whom she adored.

The family is holding a private graveside service at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC.
