Mary Anne Woods Noble, 80, of Raleigh died Monday. She was born in Greensboro, NC on July 14, 1936, to the late Ferris “Whit” Whitney Woods, Jr. and Margaret Sims Logan Woods. The majority of her family was from Atlanta, GA. She attended Normandy High School in St. Louis, MO; Boston University in Boston, MA; attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC; and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill. Mary Anne loved literature, music, and was always involved with keeping track of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Margaret Whitney Woods Smith.
Mary Anne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy Fred Noble, Jr.; her two sons, Roy Fred Noble III and his wife Cynthia Lankford Noble, and Robert Gregory Noble, and his fiancée Jennifer Jane Neumann. In addition, she leaves behind three grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Theodore and her husband Chris Theodore, Megan Winfield Noble, Royce Cameron Noble; and one great-grandchild, Riley Lankford Noble.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11:00 am at Raleigh Memorial Park.
