Mary Anne Jobe was born Raleigh, North Carolina on June 12, 1934. She was the only child of Harllee and Pauline Jobe.
She attended school in Raleigh and graduated from Peace College with a bachelors degree in business She worked for the state of North Carolina for over 40 years.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Raleigh for all of her 88 years. She loved her church family.
After retirement Mary Anne gave her time and energy to the North Carolina Museum of History where she led tours and was a docent for many years. Her love of the North Carolina Symphony was another of her activities that she contributed to and enjoyed regularly.
She served on several boards of organizations including Peace College. Mary Anne’s love of reading was readily apparent as she constantly recommended new books, new magazines and new ways to learn, to all. In her retirement she travelled to China and other destinations to visit and enjoy family.
Mary Anne had a wonderful way with words and was enjoyable to visit with because of her wry, dry wit and vast and varied knowledge. She could be counted on to survey any situation and give an opinion that was sure to bring a smile to those who heard it.
Everyone who knew her enjoyed her. She had a kind heart and a merry soul.
Mary Anne has several cousins in her family, but is survived by no closer relatives.
A funeral service for Mary Anne will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Raleigh, 99 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Burial will follow the funeral service at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
