Laura Underwood Coggins

Laura Underwood Coggins passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Laura is survived by her three children, Steve Coggins (Allison) of Wilmington, NC, Diane Jolley (Chris) of Charlotte and Linda Carrigan of Raleigh along with her eight loving grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Underwood, Jr. (Harriet) of Charlotte, a sister, Betty Berg (Bob) of Brevard, NC, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ralph and Reamer Underwood, she was preceded in death by her sisters Doris Groover and Mildred Davis.

Laura was born on May 25, 1936, in Charlotte. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and UNC - Chapel Hill. After teaching for a few years Laura became a full-time mom. She later enjoyed a career in real estate with Fonville Morisey and Coldwell Banker Advantage in Raleigh.

A memorial service was held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 3rd at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, with a reception that followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Laura's name to the Alzheimer's Association Eastern NC Chapter 3739 National Dr. Suite 110 Raleigh NC 27612.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Sunrise of Raleigh for their loving care of Laura.
