Kenneth James Walsh, age 64, passed away on October 15, 2011 in the company of his wife and daughter after a long, courageous fight with cancer. He was born in Beresford, South Dakota, on December 7, 1946 to the late Lucille and Wilfrid Walsh, and was the third of five children.
In 1960, Ken moved with his parents to California, where he attended high school and was the first in his family to graduate from college. He started his career in animal health pharmaceuticals then moved on to become an investment banker and later a mortgage banker. In California he met the love of his life, Reta, and started their family with their two children, Brandon James and Nicole Marie. The family later moved to North Carolina where Ken continued his career as a mortgage banker. Over the next 25 years he enjoyed great professional success, helped many families obtain a home, and made a great number of friends.
A devout Catholic, Ken’s faith was his foundation. He was a compassionate, caring and giving person, who devoted much of his time volunteering and helping others. He was involved in many church outreach ministries including Migrant Ministries, AIDS Care Team, Prison Ministries, and WIHN. He will always be remembered for his generous heart and love shown to others.
He also loved sports, good company and a good scotch.
