Irene "Jill" Allen

Irene “Jill” Allen passed away quietly on November 3, 2012 in Raleigh. She now resides in the embracing arms of her beloved mother Martha, father Eugene and brother Jack, all of whom preceded her in death.

Jill will be fondly remembered for her vibrant personality and her whimsical attitude toward life. Everyone in her family will agree that she was a welcome addition and a delightful presence at whatever event she attended.

After attending St. Mary’s College in Raleigh for 2 years she went on to become a proud graduate of the University of Alabama and a devoted employee of Eastern Airlines until her retirement in 1987. Her employment with Eastern served as a springboard for her many travels throughout the world and blessed her with many lasting friendships. Jill also valued those friends and acquaintances she garnered as a lifetime member of the congregation at Christ Episcopal Church and as a member of the Pilot Club of Raleigh.

She is survived and will be sorely missed by her aunt Mrs. Frank Mock of Kinston, NC, her nieces and nephews located in California and Alaska, and her extensive list of relatives in the states of North Carolina, Maryland and Florida.

All who can will remember those animated chats with Jill that always seemed to last well into the wee hours of the morning. May she forever live in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11am at Christ Church, 120 East Edenton Street, Raleigh. Burial will be held at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Christ Church, 120 East Edenton St. Raleigh, NC 27601.
