Grace Darling Floyd Small, age 87, died March 14, 2018 at 5:30 am. Grace was born on November 6, 1930 in Nichols, SC to the late Jessie and Esther Floyd. She met the love of her life, John Edwin Small, when he returned from serving in the Army. She graduated from high school and went onto Columbia Commercial College in Columbia, SC and John to Louisburg College. After college, they were married and moved to Raleigh in 1950 to begin 56 years of happy marriage.
Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband John on March 31, 2007 and a sister Dot Floyd Grainger. She is survived by one and only son Greg, of the home and her precious granddaughter Emily; and by many nieces and nephews.
Grace retired from J.C. Greene, Insurance Adjusters after 32 years of service. She continued her friendship with the girls for lunch. She was a member of Crabtree Valley Baptist Church for over 40 years, serving in many capacities. She enjoyed her flowers, playing bridge, her exercise classes and the Coast. Grace was a loyal Wolf Pack fan – win or lose.
A reception will be held on Monday, March 19th at 12:30 pm at Crabtree Valley Baptist Church, with a Memorial Service to begin at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
