Garrett Steven Taylor of Cary, NC passed from this life into the glories of heaven on July 6, 2023 at the age of 34. He was born on January 24, 1989 in Raleigh, NC where he grew up with his brothers and sister. Garrett had a lifelong struggle with epilepsy which grew much more difficult in recent years. In spite of this, Garrett lived life with a smile on his face and a constant longing to help and encourage others.
Garrett graduated from Wake Tech with an Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Design in May 2012. He used these skills to work in industrial manufacturing on various types of fabricated equipment. Most recently Garrett worked for a number of years for Sam Carbis Solutions designing complex fall protection equipment. He was recently considering getting additional education in Biblical Counseling.
Garrett was actively involved in his church, North Ridge Bible Chapel. At the age of 8, Garrett went up to his room by himself and prayed, asking Jesus Christ to be his Savior. This decision set his course and Garrett lived, in spite of his all medical struggles, with a great zeal for the Lord. He played the bass guitar in two church praise groups, and loved gathering with friends at any time, but especially to make music. He was always looking for new songs to encourage his fellow Christians. He also loved summer camp both as a camper in his youth and later as a counselor to the younger boys. Garrett had a gift for spontaneously gathering a group around him for a game or other fun activities.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Ron and Julie Taylor of Cary, NC, by his brother Austin of Raleigh, NC, his brother Evan of Cary, NC, and his sister Dolly of Washington, DC. Garrett is also survived by his sister in law, Saki, and four nieces and nephews: Iris, Cora, Felix and Jude, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Garrett’s life was held at North Ridge Bible Chapel, 7100 Harps Mill Road, Raleigh NC on Wednesday, July 12th. Interment followed at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery on South Plank Road, Sanford, NC.
