He left the world suddenly on January 29, 2022.
He was born to George S. and Vivian (Southern) Porter on November 3, 1947. After graduating Herman High school, he enlisted in the service and served in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents George S. and Vivian (Southern) Porter.
He is survived by his loving wife Larue Porter, daughters, Christine Berent, Dawn Weatherspoon, Lori Miles; sister Carol DeCesare; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and stepdaughters, Christie David, Cheri Black & Teri LaBarbera.
Greg loved spending time with his family and special friends and being involved with ministries at Tabernacle Worship Center and Raleigh Institute of Biblical Studies, where he received his Doctorate of Theology through The Christian Life School of Theology. He was also active in The Gideons.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27612 with a funeral service immediately following at 12 noon.
A burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Rd. Goldsboro, NC 27534.
